Mimesis

When I was reading The Norton Anthology of Theory and Criticism, I came across with this word, “mimesis”. I googled it to know what it meant, and I came across this website that described the word as “…”

So what is mimesis?

I do not have much knowledge on the history of it, although I should probably do a little research. But, the word implies a relation to literature. A relation to the author and his works. How those pieces of art that contains magical words are pieces of ourselves, a ‘reflection’ as of looking at our selves in the ‘mirror’.

This idea, or definition fascinated me.
